As some of you may know, I have been the proud mum of Trixie for the last nine years. She is my cute and cuddly Patterdale X Jack Russell who has sometimes featured on this blog. Today is one of those days because she got her own PR package through the post, which she was very excited about…

Introducing Hug My Dog

Hug My Dog is not a dog cuddling service, although that would be amazing. Instead it is a branch of Hug Pet Food, a company who produce premium and wholesome meals for dogs and cats. Each meal is freshly prepared with British meat and seasoned vegetables. In addition to this, they are also packed full with antioxidants, herbs and seeds. This aids digestion and ensures that our beloved pet is getting the balanced and nutritious meals they need. The meals are then frozen, locking in that freshness until they reach your doorstep.

You will find no fillers inside these meals, just wholesome goodness to keep your pet happy and healthy. Hug My Dog uses nutritionist devised recipes to make sure that they are the best they can be for your beloved pet. They even have vet approval too.

Our thoughts

It feels strange to be saying our thoughts as a heading on this post. Whilst Trixie obviously can’t tell me what she thought, I know her well enough to get an idea. Trixie is one fussy dog, especially when it comes to food. Over the years I have tried so many different brands and she will often turn her nose up at it. In recent years, Trixie has been on a strict vet approved diet because of a few health issues. Because of this, I made sure to check with her vet before agreeing to try the Hug My Dog meals. Once we had the green light, I couldn’t wait to see what she thought of them.

I was kindly sent a couple of flavours for Trixie to try. You will be able to see me unboxing these and Trixie trying the meals out in my weekly vlog. This will be available on my channel on Monday. (I will try to remember to add the link in once its live!) I was sent the Beef & Sweet Potato and Chicken & Carrot flavours for Trixie to try. It’s safe to say she enjoyed them.

Hug My Dog take all the stress away

Trixie is a huge part of my family and is treated like the queen she is. I always want her to eat well so I love the idea of having a food subscription box for her dinners. The great news is the subscription is flexible in the same way that human food boxes are from other companies. This really appeals to me because I can fit it around our plans. Alternatively, you can also just buy as and when you need to, in order stock your freezer up. There is a minimum order of four packs at a time but this would soon be eaten within the week.

Something that I really like about the modern world is its so much easier to eat healthy. Now that can also be reflected in our pets too. With an easy to navigate website and delivery straight to your doorstep, Hug Pet Food have taken all the stress away. The fact these meals can be stored in the freezer and cooked in the microwave as and when its needed means I will always have food to hand.

Something that myself, along with many of you, are conscious of is the impact we have on the environment. Hug Pet Food have been awarded Ethical Company Status which is great. They are a zero to landfill company and include helpful and detailed information with their packing note. This explains exactly how each thing can be recycled. This is great because sometimes it can get confusing. In addition to this, Hug Pet Food have promised to plant a tree for all new customers.

Final Thoughts

These meals are quick and convenient whilst still being healthy too. I’ve definitely found them great value for money. I’d say they are tasty too by the way Trixie eats them. The frozen meals arrive with ice packs made from pure water. Not only does it keep the food stored well until you can pack it away, but it is also a great reminder to water those houseplants that you’ve forgotten about.

If you are tempted to try these meals for your pet, check out the Hug Pet Food website for some helpful tips. They have a really good guide on how to transition your pet onto new food without an upset tummy. In addition to this, I found their feeding guide calculator really helpful. It made sure I gave Trixie the right quantity. It can be so easy to overfeed our fur babies.

If like me you love cute animal photos, make sure you check out the Hug Pet Food Instagram account because their feed is adorable!
