Gratitude Lessons: Reflecting on 2025 So Far

If you paused for just a moment, what would be on your gratitude list for 2025 so far? The big wins, the quiet joys, the unexpected surprises—sometimes, the things that shape our year aren’t what we planned at all.

Already, this year has been full of lessons, challenges, and moments that have taken me by surprise. From the breakthroughs in my work-life that I never anticipated to the simple pleasures of daily life, like enjoying a warm cup of tea on a chilly morning, each experience has contributed to my growth.

I’ve encountered people whose kindness left a lasting impact, reminding me of the beauty in human connections. There have been hurdles that initially seemed daunting but ultimately brought resilience and clarity.

But through it all, there’s already been so much to be grateful for, from the support of family and friends to the small victories that often go unnoticed. Each moment, whether good or bad, has woven a rich tapestry of experiences that continue to shape my perspective on life.

The people who make a difference

I’m so lucky to be surrounded by amazing family members and friends who continually uplift and inspire me. Whilst my inner circle is small, I feel like I have a great connection with each and every one, allowing for deep, meaningful conversations and shared experiences.

I’ve been battling some issues mentally over the last year, a journey that has taught me the value of vulnerability and openness. During difficult times, I am so grateful to those people who have made a difference in my life, always ready to lend a listening ear or a comforting presence. Their unwavering support, love, and companionship have been my anchor, guiding me through the stormy waters of my thoughts. I appreciate all the kindness, encouragement, and understanding you have shown me; you know who you are, and I will forever cherish our bond.

The challenges that taught me something

As many of you will know, 2024 was a year of highs and lows and I spent a lot of that time grieving. Understandably, this doesn’t go away just because a new year has started; it lingers, sometimes creeping into every thought and feeling.

Whilst I may still be grieving, that pain is definitely a little easier to bear, and I can now see the light at the end of the tunnel flickering gently. In fact, through this journey of heartache, I think it has helped me to grow in so many unexpected ways too. I once thought I had to constantly have my shit together as a partner, a mum, a family member, and a friend, which was both overwhelming and exhausting. The societal pressure to appear as if I had everything figured out was suffocating at times.

However, through this process, I’ve learnt that actually, I don’t need to maintain that facade. As long as I’m healthy, happy, and feeling like I’m stepping in the right direction, that is all that truly matters.

I’ve discovered that vulnerability can be a source of strength rather than a sign of weakness. Sometimes, all you need to do is to re-adjust your mindset, allowing space for self-compassion, and find your own gratitude amidst the struggles, recognising that each challenge can also be an opportunity for learning and growth. Embracing this mindset has lightened the weight I carry and has opened doors to deeper connections with those around me.

The little joys that made my life better

Of course, I have two little bundles of joy which are Nellie & Trixie. They bring me happiness every day, their playful antics and loving natures lighting up even the cloudiest of moments, and whilst that sometimes comes with stress too, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It goes without saying, the people in my life also bring me immense joy; their laughter resonates with my spirit, and I live for those small moments that present themselves throughout my day, whether it’s sharing a cuppa, indulging in cake and catching up on life’s happenings, or enjoying a leisurely walk together in the warmth of the sun.

These are the cherished moments that, whilst easily forgotten during the hectic rush of daily life, fill my cup significantly and, in those fleeting instants, add layers of extra meaning and depth to my life, reminding me of what truly matters in this beautiful journey we call life.

The opportunities that come my way

I feel so lucky to have worked with some great brands in recent months and also to the things I have in the pipeline too, which are shaping up to be thrilling opportunities.

When I first started creating content, I never would have thought it could be possible that brands would want to work with little old me, but there we go, and it has truly been a remarkable journey.

Sometimes the doors that open in the most unexpected ways are the most exciting, presenting unique challenges and experiences that push me to grow creatively. I hope there can be more of that throughout 2025 and beyond, as I continue to explore new avenues and collaborations.

I never imagined I’d be where I am now, but I’m so grateful for the opportunities that unfolded when I least expected them, and I look forward to embracing whatever comes next with open arms and a curious mind.

Wrapping it up

2025 is the year where I continue to take a step back, enjoy life, appreciate the little moments, and be grateful for all that I have. I’ve chosen to carry this gratitude with me, because, when we take the time to notice the good, life feels a little brighter.

Each day, I embrace the small joys that come my way, whether it’s a warm cup of tea in the morning or the laughter of loved ones sharing stories. I’m learning to focus on the present, cherishing fleeting moments that often go unnoticed in the hustle and bustle of daily life. By cultivating this mindset, I hope to inspire others to find beauty in simplicity, making every day an opportunity for reflection and appreciation.

With that said, if you were asked what are you grateful for so far this year, what would you say? If you’re unsure or need a helping hand, here are some pointers to help you:

  1. Good health: Being healthy and free from illness is a valuable blessing.
  2. Family and friends: The love and support of those close to us can bring immense joy.
  3. Nature’s beauty: The wonders of the natural world, from sunsets to starry nights, offer moments of awe.
  4. Basic necessities: Access to food, shelter, and clean water provides comfort and security.
  5. Personal growth: Opportunities for learning, self-improvement, and new experiences enrich our lives.
  6. Kindness of others: Acts of kindness from strangers or loved ones can brighten our days.
  7. Moments of joy: Simple pleasures, such as laughter, music, and warm hugs, bring happiness.
  8. Peaceful moments: Finding peace and tranquility in a busy world is something to appreciate.
  9. New beginnings: Every day presents a chance for a fresh start and new opportunities.
  10. Hope for the future: Believing in a better tomorrow can inspire gratitude for the present.

Gratitude isn’t just about looking back – it’s about carrying that mindset forward. As we continue in 2025, I hope you find moments to pause and appreciate the big milestones, the quiet victories, and even the lessons wrapped in challenges.

Life moves fast, but when we take the time to acknowledge what we’re grateful for, we create space for even more joy and fulfilment. So as you reflect on your own journey so far, what are you most grateful for?
