One of the best things about having a blog is having the platform to share my voice. Its my space where I can talk about products I enjoy, businesses I love and so much more. One of the things also try to include on my blog is the charities I support, such as The Royal British Legion.

When my dad was younger, he was part of the Royal Air Force and whilst he left quite a few years ago, the RAF has still been a part of my life as an aviation fan. I have been going to airshows all of my life and one charity that I have always seen at these events is the Royal British Legion. From an early age, I was taught what they stood for and what help and support they could give.

Who are the Royal British Legion?

When I mention the Royal British Legion, you might think of the poppy appeal, which takes place every year, with the selling of poppies in the lead up to Remembrance Day. You might even think of the Remembrance Day events that take part up and down the country and that I feel proud that I attend. But what you might not realise is that the Royal British Legion is so much more than that.

The Royal British Legion is available to all members of the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, British Army, veterans and their families. They are there to help and support in times of need and have been since 1921. They offer so many services including care and help with independent living, physical and mental wellbeing, financial and employment support and so much more.

The Royal British Legion & How They Are Adapting to Covid-19

Like with the rest of us, the Royal British Legion has had to adapt to Covid-19 and the way in which they run. Currently their drop in centres are closed, meaning that people of missing out on that vital support. Whilst they are able to support people virtually, they cannot do this without your help. Care homes are still looking after their residents and giving them the best life they can under the current circumstances, but to continue to do this, they need your help.

The British armed forces have been there for us whenever we have needed them. From volatile situations, protecting us, humanitarian aid, to teaching us and helping us with all aspects of Covid-19 and so when they feel that they need our support, I’d like to think that we will be there for them. As a charity, the Royal British Legion need vital donations to be able to achieve this. Under the current situation, events have been cancelled and fundraisers are unable to do all that they usually do, but it doesn’t mean we can’t help.

What Can I Do To Help?

Take part in a Poppy Run or Walk

This is a great way of getting fresh air and keeping fit whilst raising money for charity at the same time. Simply choose when and where you are going to do it, set your target and get fundraising.
