As the popularity of slower lifestyles increases, more people are looking to find ways to be more intentional, every day. Intentional living allows you to live by your utmost purpose, beliefs and values, and is a sure-found way to make your life more enjoyable.
Amid the sorrow of losing my mum to cancer and the stress of the rat race, I sought solace in the law of attraction and practised gratitude with profound results. Intentional living was a byproduct of this spiritual development and completely transformed my life.

Learn how to be more intentional in your life with these five loving practices.
1. Find your calling
Your calling is the most important part of leading an intentional life. Without it, you can’t live in alignment or gain the greatest fulfilment. This part of building an intentional life is beautiful as it looks different for everyone.
You will need to find some quiet time, a notebook or journal and a pen, and ask yourself:
What am I passionate about?
What are my greatest strengths?
What do I want to be remembered for?
Answering these questions will lead you to your heart’s calling.
2. Find your goals
I’ve been setting intentional goals since 2021 and they’ve made such a difference in my life.
My calling is to build a life in nature for my future family and there is always one goal in my planner that directly relates to this future. But, my desires extend beyond my family to include writing, spirituality and homemaking – cue the birth of my blog, Intentional Lucie.
So, write a list of as many goals as you can imagine, big and small. I write 50, but stop when it feels right for you. Then, divide them into different categories – spiritual, personal, love, career, finance, health and family – and write down the length of time it will take to achieve each goal from three months to 10 years.
Your goals listed for one year and under are the ones to take action on now. It might be as simple as booking a consultation for a big appointment you’ve been manifesting. Just be sure to do it while it’s fresh in your mind.
3. Create a morning routine
A morning routine is a non-negotiable aspect of my intentional life. It gives me time and clarity to work towards my wildest dreams, and feels beautiful to have seized the day.
You will want to build a morning routine that feels right for you, but I suggest combining activities for mindfulness, exercise, passions and goals. I cover how to create a morning routine fully in my blog post, Creating an intentional morning routine.
4. Connect with your spiritual leader
Now, this might feel a bit woo-woo if you don’t practise the law of attraction. But, building a deeply personal connection with the universe (or if you practise religion, God) helps me to live intentionally and bring my desires to life.
One of the easiest ways to connect with your spiritual leader is to practise gratitude for what you have. Gratitude practices such as The Magic by spiritual guru, Rhonda Byrne, are a wonderful method. However, starting with one thing each day is enough to get started.
Simply write what you’re grateful for every morning in the following format, replacing the highlighted words with your own:
“I am grateful to have my cat, Humphrey, because he has taught me how to be patient and loving. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
This practice is intentional because it reminds you to look for beauty in the world, every day.
5. Romanticise your life
It’s time to romanticise your life to make every day a living fairytale. I’m looking forward to going one step further with this in Disneyland Paris for my birthday in a couple of weeks!
Romanticising your life might spark you to put your makeup on with more precision and care than usual, or wear a dress with a romantic hemline, even if it’s just to potter around the house in. You might choose to drink tea from your favourite teapot or read a magazine from cover to cover with Classic FM playing on the radio, rather than mindlessly scrolling on social media.
Ultimately, you can romanticise your life in whichever way feels the most intentional to you.

I appreciate the reminder about getting into a good morning routine. I’ve just started one again and really want to stick with it as it does help me remain intentional throughout the day. I love the other ideas/advice and will give those a try!
