Looking after your skin, body and overall health as you age can be a daunting prospect. As a young adult, it’s not really a thought you have often. However, as I’ve previously mentioned on this blog, it’s important to start off as soon as you can to really reap the benefits later on in life.

If you’re reading this and you think, its not for you, then let me tell you something. I was that girl. The girl who thought she was too young for a proper skincare routine. The girl that felt she didn’t need to concentrate on looking after her body, because there were no complaints. So what changed?

Something had to change

I changed. I was forced to look at things from a different perspective. And do you know what, I wish I had done it sooner. Having my daughter has been a huge blessing but it has also opened up my eyes to so many things. I can’t believe how naive I used to be in terms of my health.

If you’re been a subscriber for a while, or even follow my YouTube channel, you will know that my body found pregnancy hard. HG sickness along with gestational diabetes definitely took its toll. The came the sleepless nights, not being a number one priority anymore and so many other things.

When Nellie was a couple of months old, I looked in the mirror and in all honestly, I hated what I saw. Not just how my body had changed, but also my skin and how I felt on the inside. It was in that moment that I knew things had to change. That I had to be that change.

So what did I do?

I sat down and did one of my favourite things, I wrote a list. I chose to use that time to write down all the things I didn’t like about myself. I told myself that once they were down on paper, I would not allow myself to get worked up over them. This was my step one.

Onto step two and I thought about how I can improve those things on the list, both in the short and long term. Here are some of my examples and how I worked through them in the short term:

  • I felt frumpy and a mess – I dedicated 10 minutes morning and evening to address this. In the morning, I would tidy myself up, make sure my hair was brushed. I’d also put on the outfit I’d pulled out during my evening 10 minutes the night before.
  • My skin was not happy – I took it back to basics, creating a skincare routine that worked for me. Knowing that the Clinique 3 Step programme used to always work, I adapted this to products I already owned. I also accepted that some of it was hormones which were out of my control at the moment in time.
  • My body ached so much and I had constant clicky knees – So I did light stretches and some yoga each day. It was too early to be able to workout properly, but I felt this was a step in the right direction. I also went out on daily walks, not only for exercise but for fresh air and a better mental health too.
  • My inside health didn’t feel great – I tried to eat more of a balanced diet whilst at the same time accepting that my body was recovering and I was adjusting to a new way of life.

Sticking with those examples, here is what I wrote down for long term:

  • Decluttering my wardrobe, allowing me to see what I actually had that I could wear and identifying any areas that were lacking, so that I could buy something suitable.
  • Continuing with my skincare routine and making sure I stuck to it, no matter how tired I felt. In the long term, the hormones settled down which helped too.
  • Getting the all-clear from my GP to start exercising and then utilising free online workouts. There are so many out there, but I found the best for me were ones that didn’t feel like I was working out.
  • Learning more about what is actually in the food I eat and using that knowledge to eat a more balanced diet. Also doing research into supplements and the areas my body might be lacking.

Looking more indepth at supplements

I have never been the best at taking supplements. I set out with the best of intentions and put all the tablets into those little compartments each week, but then find half way through the week I’ve forgotten some. Therefore I’m never really getting the full benefit.

So when I was looking at the different supplements on the market, I knew I needed something that would work for me and I could stick to. I also wanted something that would give me exactly what I needed, without working against each other, which can so often happen. I would just about to stop expressing milk, so knew it was the perfect time to add a supplement regime to my life. It got me thinking about a brand I had tried before and as if the universe was listening, the very same brand got in touch and asked if I’d like to try some more of their products.

Welcoming back Revive Collagen

I loved working with Revive Collagen on a previous post and found that the original formula really worked well for me. So exploring their website, I noticed that they had a new, enhanced plus version that sounded like just what I was needing.

So what is the difference?

The original formula has 8,500 MG of collagen, which is a great amount. However the enhanced formula has 10,000 MG. If you’re unsure why you should be thinking about collagen, let me tell you more. It is a key factor wen it comes to maintaining the elasticity and firmness of our skin. It also helps to keep our hair and nails healthy too. So as you can probably tell, collagen is a huge key player when it comes to benefiting us as we age.

Whilst the enhanced plus formula doesn’t contain Hyaluronic acid or aloe vera juice, it does contain vitamins B6, B12, C & D. It also contains keratin and retinol to really give you all that you need.

But what about creams & tablets?

Did you know that whilst there are so many collagen marketed creams out there, they actually lack results? Products that claim to rejuvenate the skin, are actually more likely to just be hydrating that outer layer for a short period of time. The main reason for this is because the body is unable to absorb collagen in the way. Collagen’s have molecular weights that make them too large to penetrate the top layer of skin. This is why our bodies find it much easier to absorb collagen via our stomachs.

The reason why I believe these sachets are so much better than taking pills in simple. Each daily sachet of Revive Collagen is up to 20 times more powerful that typical collagen pills. Revive Collagen is already broken down for the body to absorb into the bloodstream and has a 90% absorption rate. This differs from tablets which are usually only a 30% absorption rate.

So what are my thoughts?

I have been testing Revive Collagen Enhanced Plus out for nearly a month and as cliche as it sounds, I can honestly see and feel the difference. Not even just from an aging perspective, although that is a great benefit. But my skin just looks and feels so much healthier. I don’t have that dull look that so many exhausted mothers tend to have.

Every woman who has had a baby will know how devastating the post-partum hair loss actually is. My hair was falling out all over the place and with bald patches appearing, myself like so many others, worried if it would ever grow back. Since taking my daily sachet, I have definitely noticed an amazing regrowth. No only that but my hair is overall so much stronger, which is great when you have a baby that is in the pulling hair stage.

Those points alone mean that I will definitely be continuing to use the Revive Collagen Enhanced Plus supplements. But even if you haven’t recently had a baby, I know that you will see so many benefits from using them.

These sachets can be taken straight from the packet, or if you prefer, can be added to water to make a lovely, refreshing tropical drink to start your day off right. I know some of you reading this have allergies, intolerance or preferences and may struggle to find a supplement that fits in with this. However, the great news is Revive Collagen Enhanced Plus has:

  • No added sugar
  • No artificial colours or flavours
  • No dairy
  • No gluten
  • No genetically modified ingredients
  • No lactose
  • No soy

Final Thoughts

Well I think that covers everything that I love about the Revive Collagen Enhanced Plus supplements and how they can help you to maintain skin and health as you age. As you can tell, I highly recommend this as a great way of getting all of that goodness into your body. So why not try it for yourself. You can either pick up a packet from their website to try or use their subscription service, where not only can you select the frequency and cancel at any time, but you can also save 15%. All this whilst not having to worry that you will run out.

  1. Collagen is the supplement for women. My skin is still ok. But I still need to take note on skin changed. I’m now in my late 30s. Skin changed can happen unexpectedly. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Hair loss wasn’t apart of my postpartum journey, but I’m glad they have supplements like Revive Collagen that’s beneficial and available to moms. Definitely a win with the no added sugars and artificial colors and flavors.
