Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year. The days grow shorter, the air turns crisp, and nature transforms into a sea of warm golden tones. It’s that perfect in-between season when you can wrap up in a soft jumper, sip something warm, and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors before winter fully sets in.

This year, I wanted to share my Autumn Bucket List – a collection of simple joys and seasonal activities that make this time of year so special. Whether you’re looking for inspiration for things to do this autumn in the UK, or you simply love cosy, seasonal content, I hope this list gives you a few ideas to make the most of the months ahead.
(And just to mention, I’m not the biggest fan of Halloween, so this list focuses on the comforting, autumnal side of the season rather than anything spooky.)
1. Go on Autumn Walks with My Family and Dog, Trixie
One of my favourite autumn traditions is going on long countryside walks. There’s nothing better than hearing leaves crunch under your boots, breathing in that cool air, and watching my dog, Trixie, dash through piles of fallen leaves. The scenery at this time of year is stunning, with trees turning every shade of red and gold. It’s a simple pleasure that always lifts my spirits.
2. Capture the Beauty of the Season
As someone who enjoys photography, autumn feels like the perfect opportunity to take my camera out and capture the changing landscape. The soft golden light, misty mornings, and colourful leaves make every photography feel magical. I plan to spend time exploring local parks and countryside trails to photograph the season at its best. I’ll be sharing many of my favourite shots on Instagram, so keep an eye out if you love autumn photography as much as I do.
3. Wrap Up in Cosy Knitwear
Autumn fashion is by far my favourite. It’s the season for chunky knit jumpers, cardigans, scarves and ankle boots. I love layering clothes to stay warm while still feeling comfortable and stylish. There’s something so comforting about throwing on your favourite jumper, grabbing a coffee, and heading out for a walk through the crisp autumn air.
4. Make a Hearty Stew in the Slow Cooker
When the evenings start to draw in, I always crave home-cooked comfort food. One of my favourite things to make in autumn is a rich, hearty stew in the slow cooker. The smell fills the house throughout the day, and it’s so satisfying coming home to a warm meal waiting for you. Whether it’s a traditional beef stew, a vegetable hotpot or a sausage casserole, it’s the perfect way to end a chilly day.
5. Enjoy Cosy Nights In
I’ve always preferred a cosy night in to a night out. There’s nothing better than settling down under a blanket, watching a good film, and enjoying a takeaway. Autumn is made for quiet, relaxed evenings. I love shutting the curtains early, lighting a candle, and just switching off from the world for a while. It’s the perfect way to unwind and recharge.
6. Embrace the Lead-Up to Christmas
It always feels like autumn flies by far too quickly. One moment you’re enjoying the changing leaves, and the next Christmas lights are being switched on in town. I try to make the most of these weeks before the festive rush begins by visiting local markets, going for woodland walks, and slowly starting to plan for the holidays ahead.
Final Thoughts
For me, autumn is all about slowing down and appreciating the simple things in life. From countryside walks and homemade comfort food to cosy nights in, it’s the season that reminds us to enjoy the moment.
What’s on your autumn bucket list this year? Are you someone who loves Halloween, or do you prefer the peaceful, cosy side of the season like me? I’d love to hear your favourite autumn traditions in the comments below.
Until next time,
Kelly

I really want to go out and take some pictures as I haven’t had time yet! Although I’m loving wrapping up in scarves and hats!

Agreed, although I haven’t been to a pumpkin patch so I’ll have to add that to next years list

My favourite thing about Autumn is the cosy knitwear and the lovely walks with all the colourful trees! I absolutely love Halloween – I always either have a party or go to a party, I just love being creative with a costume!

I love the idea of getting creative with a costume, but I’d probably end up staying in the warm 🙂

Aww, I love this post! Autumn is such a colourful and cosy season. I really love going for walks, having baths, wearing jumpers, getting all comfy with a film and a hot choc and a blanket. It’s exciting to think that Christmas will be here in a couple of months too! I’m not that fussed about Halloween but I always like going for a walk in the evening to see all the lights, pumpkins and decorations. Lovely post Kelly, thank you for sharing ❤ xx

Ah, I’m not really a fan of Autumn (slippery leaf piles, misty drizzle that makes my hair frizz, spiders) but I love your list, I hope you manage to tick all of them off before Christmas!
