Life Styling by Mikhila McDaid. Is this the must have guide or is it just another YouTuber book? Can a book really help you to find your style as well as your confidence? Just continue reading to find out.
Having followed Mikhila’s Youtube channels Miss Budget Beauty and Diary Of A Spendaholic for several years I’ve watched both herself and her channels grow. When the book announcement arrived, I ordered it straight away.

The Cover
First impressions of the cover is how aesthetically pleasing it is. However, the tagline made me wonder if it was something that I would enjoy reading. Nonetheless, I was determined to give it a try.
Simple steps for mums to find style and confidence

The Content
This book was one of those that you just can’t put down. Right from the start, there were relatable topics such as the “shopping smarter” chapter, which talks about how to save money whilst still buying the things you love. For years, people have always stated that you should dress for your shape and whilst in the past I’ve done this, my body has changed so it was great to read the “dressing for your shape” chapter, to update the styles that might suit me.
There were some chapters that didn’t fit in with my current life such as the “marriage and divorce” chapter, but I still found it interesting to read. Mikhila also wrote a lovely letter to her daughter, which was so beautifully written and coming straight from her heart, it had me in tears.
Throughout the book, Mikhila refers to her contributors, which are a group of YouTubers, bloggers and other people, which Mikhila had introduced at the beginning. At different topics throughout the book, she asked these contributors for their opinions, if they have done something similar and how they handled it, which I think is a nice touch and something I haven’t seen before.
And finally…
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The tagline on the cover was definitely deceiving because this book is suitable for adults of any age. I’d definitely recommend this book if you are looking for a light-hearted self help guide.
If you enjoyed this book review, why not check out this one next.

I don’t follow her but will give her a look. Book sounds interesting even if like you it doesn’t all resonate with me x
Sometimes books that don’t resonate can be the most interesting of all 🙂
It sounds like a great practical book – I’m going to have to check it out!
Thank you for reading my review
This looks like a really good book that would be a nice read to pickup throughout the day. I hadn’t heard of this before so I’m glad I found your post!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
I agree its definitely a book you could read throughout the day. You could even read different chapters and not all in order which is great if you want to refer back to something.
I love self help books so this seems like it would be a book I’d enjoy. I’d never heard of it before but I feel like the cover itself is pretty enough to have caught my eye if I’d ever come across it x

Thank you for reading. I think we all need to shop a bit smarter these days.
I have not heard of this book, but I love the sounds of it, especially the shopping and dress for your shape chapter. I would love to see what styles would potentially suit me, and the book has a lovely color. 🙂
Its such a great book in that sense because it gives you tips and ideas without telling you that you can or can’t wear something. It helps you find a style you are happy with.
I really enjoy when digital content creators produce books. It’s fun to see their personality in a new format. I got Tezza’s book when it came out, so I can relate to the excitement over this. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
I completely agree, its great to see another side to them.
I’ve never heard of this book before, but it sounds really interesting – I love that she connected with a number of people, learning and sharing from each of their experiences. I’m definitely going to have to check this out.
Its great to see so many views and experiences from different backgrounds all within one book.
I love a good style book so this is one I’ll have to look into. Thanks for sharing! x
Thank you for reading my review 🙂

I love self help books too. Thank you for reading my review.
Sounds like a cool book to read. I think I should check it out. This book might be a good reference for me.
It is a great read, you definitely should
I have to be honest, I have never heard of the Author but it sounds like a good read. Anything that can help with confidence is a winner for me x
Confidence comes from within but I definitely think what we think of ourselves on the outside plays a huge part too.
I’ve heard of Diary of a Spendaholic but not of this one. It sounds like it really offers a wide range of insight. Thank you for the review.
I should read this!
I shop far too much and need some tips like in this book!
It sounds great! ☺️

I love a book I can’t put down! I felt the same with my latest read, Mexican Gothic, so I wrote a whole post gushing about it!
I’ve not heard of an influencer/YouTuber asking for contributions before either, what a lovely touch. It sounds like a really good book – as you say, you weren’t sure, and some of the chapters might not be exactly right for you, but overall it’s a great read. Lovely review, Kelly 🙂 Lisa x
I’ve not heard of this YouTuber before and I’m not a mum so obviously not the target audience. But it’s sounds like a great read + would make a great coffee table book too!
I love the idea of a light-hearted self help book, and I haven’t read one in a while. Definitely looking into this!
