AD – The Second Skin Highlighter was gifted to me in exchange for a review. However this doesn’t affect any opinions given.
I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels like they have hardly worn any make up this year. During the first lockdown, I tried to make the effort to put a little bit of make up at least once a week. However, since July, I’ve probably worn it twice. Every year I try to create a festive inspired make up look and knew that I still wanted to do that this year. The look I wanted to go for was a glowy, dewy finish and so using a highlighter was going to be key.

Second Skin Highlighters
Jolie Beauty kindly offered to send me two highlighters to try out and review. The two shades I received were Dreaming and Saintly. When I received them I couldn’t believe how pretty yet practical the packaging was. The rose gold compact comes with a mirror inside and an easy to open clasp. There is nothing worse than having a product that you can’t open, I’m sure we have all been there. They are what I consider to be a good weight too – not too light that they feel cheap and not too heavy that you don’t want to take it out with you. Each compact arrives in a pretty white box and is bubble wrapped as well, making sure they are delivered safely to you. The attention to detail is amazing and each highlighter even contains the Jolie Beauty logo which makes it feel like such a luxury product.
I used the shade Dreaming on my cheek bones and down my nose and used Saintly under my brows and on my cupids bow. The first thing I noticed was how light it felt on my skin. In truth, it didn’t feel like I had any highlighter on at all. They both really complimented my make up, with neither of them being overpowering. Both highlighters helped me to create the glowy, dewy make up look I was hoping for, whilst still looking natural. The don’t clump or look stripey and are perfect for wearing both day and night.
One thing I was really impressed with when applying was that even though they are powder products, there was no fallout from either of these highlighters. The product went from my brush, to exactly where I wanted it to go. Another thing I was highly impressed with is how long lasting the highlighters are. One application was all I needed for the whole day and yet at the end of the day, it was really easy to remove. In the past, something that has staying power is usually hard to remove, but this was not the case at all.
My overall opinion of the Jolie Beauty Highlighters are that they are great value for money. Priced at £16.99, you only need a small amount of product and it lasts all day. I’d even go as far as to say these highlighters are the best I’ve ever tried. Jolie Beauty also do a bundle of all of the shades of highlighters in the Second Skin Collection, so if you can’t decide, you could purchase them all.
What do you think of these highlighters? Will you be purchasing anything from the Second Skin Collection?
