How To Support Small Businesses

AD – Items in this post have been gifted. This doesn’t affect any opinions given.

When this pandemic started, I don’t think any of us ever realised it would go on for so long. Throughout the months, we have all learnt so much about ourselves and what we want. I’ve seen some great small businesses open but I’ve also seen a good many that have had to close.

One think I want to do this year is support small businesses more. They really need our help now more than ever. I want to base my gift guides around lots of small businesses to give them a platform to show their products and services. Both of my recent Valentine’s Day gift guides featured lots of them and the feedback has been great.

I want to share some tips of how you can help support small businesses this year. It is so much easier than you think yet can make such a huge difference. Before we get onto that, I wanted to share with you one small business that you won’t want to miss out on…

Bels Bling

I have been so blessed to have worked with Bels Bling a couple of times previously. Both my Daytime Sparkle and 5 ways to add accessories to your outfit were so well received by you. Both posts have some beautiful jewellery pieces that I still love and get lots of wear out of.

Small Business Bels Bling Jewellery

Bels Bling is the place to go for beautiful yet affordable jewellery. With a mixture of dainty and statement pieces, there is something for everyone. One of my favourite things about the Bels Bling jewellery is that they all catch the light in such a pretty way. Here are just a couple of the beautiful pieces Bels Bling sell.

Ways you can support small businesses

  • Purchase an item
  • Leave a review
  • Follow them on social media
  • Share their posts on your social media
  • Like and leave comments on their posts
  • Suggest them to your friends
  • Tag them in opportunities
  • Sign up to their newsletter

I hope you have found these tips useful. Supporting small businesses doesn’t have to cost a penny, just simply a moment of your time. I share lots of small businesses over on my Instagram, so feel free to follow me. Make sure you check out the Bels Bling website and treat yourself or a loved one to some gorgeous jewellery.

  1. Great post! My parents used to own a small business, and I think the best thing someone can do is recommend a small business- if it’s a physical place, recommend going there- and if it’s a service, leave a positive review 🙂 thank you for sharing, I think this is a really interesting time for small business and I’m happy to see more people supporting them through these tough times x

  2. YES! This post is more important than ever! I bought so many bits from small businesses over Christmas and it felt so good. When I gave them my feedback, I was overwhelmed with their appreciation!

  5. This whole situation has been incredibly challenging for small business owners. It breaks my heart to see the announcements that some have been forced to close shop due to the demands of the pandemic. We have been focused on doing what we can to try to support the small businesses in our area including ordering takeout from a different local restaurant every Friday and purchasing as many of our gifts over the holidays as we could from local small business owners. If we each do our part, it can make a big difference!

  6. Fantastic post! Supporting small businesses is so important, especially given how easy the monpolised alternative is becoming, there soon won’t be any freedom of choice. I managed to go all local for Christmas shopping this year

  7. This past year I have made more of a conscious effort to support small businesses. There are so many unique things to buy from them, as well as helping them out Also I love the jewellery you have bought!

  8. Affordable and beautiful is the perfect way to describe these pieces; I love the silver earrings and the necklace! Single tone colors go well with most of my clothes and I take great pleasure in wearing jewelry that makes me feel happy. I also love being able to reach out and let the seller/maker know how much I love what they put their heart into!
Thanks so much for sharing this!

  9. This is such a kind and beautiful thing you’re doing! Everyone has been thinking about a lot of things even starting businesses to survive and get by esp here in the Philippines. I agree, to help them it costs zero dollars. Buy their products, share their posts, so many things to do! Many would benefit from this. Thanks for sharing.

  10. Ohh, I love seeing other people advocating for small businesses! Out of all the jewelry, I think the pearl necklace is my favorite piece––pearls are timeless.

I’ve actually started a series about supporting small businesses on my blog as well, but with regards to supporting local restaurants/cafés, so I’m glad to see you sharing a similar message. It’s just so sad to see how many businesses have had to permanently close their doors this past year… Hopefully, enough of us can keep supporting these places & reminding people to help get them through this time.

    Thank you for sharing! Xx

This sounds like another one I need to check out – those pieces are stunning!
