It feels like absolutely ages since I featured a home interiors post but today I’m shedding some light on “MIDCENTURY MODERN: 15 INTERIOR DESIGN IDEAS” written by Ivy Ngeow. You do not want to miss out on this book, because it is packed full of hints and tips to help you make the most of your space.

Who is Ivy Ngeow?
Ivy Ngeow is an award-winning author. She has been in the architecture and interior design industry for over 25 years. Ivy was architecture and interiors columist for London’s Wimbledon Time and Leisure magazine for 7 years. In addition to this, her experience includes vacay homes in The Hampsons, Carribean resorts, Gleneagles Golf and Spa Result, Claridges. As well as these, added to the list is boutique hotels in Havana and Penang, two UNESCO World Heritage sites.

What is Midcentury Modern?
Midcentury Modern is deemed to be he golden age of architecture and design. It began its rise after Art Deco and Art Moderne and lasted right through until the 1970s. Today we think of it as elegent yet simple and can be compared in design to the likes of The Queens Gambit, which so many of us have watched.
What will I find in this book?
This book has so much packed inside to really help you. Its suitable for everyone whether you’re an amateur, designer, enthusiast or modernista. Firstly, there is a brief history to explain so much more about the Midcentury Modern concept than I ever could do in this post. Secondly, there are 15 easy to read illustrated ideas. Each of these are picked from a Queen’s Gambit scene to provide a pithy overview. In addition to this, there are recommendations to guide you on the design elements. From colour palettes, furniture and lighting to wall and floor finishes, it will all help you to style a room whether new or old.

One of my favourite parts in this book is that there is a “Hot Tip” in every chapter. This amps up any design and helps to give it the professional touch you might otherwise be lacking. Its almost like it is giving an incite into those little industry secrets that make a room look more styled.
If this isn’t enough, you also have the bonus of 3 classic cocktail recipes to thirst-quench like the Queen.
So what are you waiting for? Unlock your passion for Midcentury Modern and pick up your copy of MIDCENTURY MODERN: 15 INTERIOR DESIGN IDEAS today.

I remember this style as a young child in my parent’s home and I’m sure this book will bring back a lot of great memories! Thanks for the book recommendation.
I love mid-century modern designs. I’m thrilled they’re coming back in. My house was built in 1949, so I’ve always secretly wanted to really lean into it’s era with my decorating. But alas, I’ve never really had a decorative theme. I’m too much of a magpie. I want this shiny thing, and this one, and this one. There’s no rhyme, reason, or style.
I’ve always been interested in interior design, so this seems like a great read. Mid-century modern designs is such a pretty pattern, and I think my living space could use some decor. My mom owns a few pieces, so she would certainly enjoy this book. Thanks for sharing this Kelly!
