Happy Christmas Eve! This month has just flown by in the blink of an eye. Yesterday I posted the first part of my festive Q&A and today I’m back with part two. My guest today is The Grumpy Olive, made up of a trio of sisters. Let’s get to know them a bit better…

What made you start your blog?

The Grumpy Olive was created in 2013 by Simona as a space to share her recipes with whoever wanted to read them. But it wasn’t until August 2020 that we teamed up all together from our separate blogs and relaunched with the intention of sharing our passions all in one place.

What can anyone discovering your blog for the first time expect from you?

Plenty of recipes, a lot of book talk and some travelling content too, for good measure. We are a multi-niche site and we want to keep it as varied as possible.

Which blog post is your favourite from this year?

I think the three of us would have to agree on the content on sustainability, with this article in particular about Cristina’s sustainability journey.

What are your goals for next year?

We want to take The Grumpy Olive to the next level, possibly jump into it full time as soon as humanly possible. We want to make sure we can become content creators for a living, but you will need to wait to see if this is going to actually happen!

Do you have any pets? If so, tell me about them

We have a cat, TJ, which also happens to be our mascot for the blog! He is a 14 years old Birman cat, full of attitude and lover of mice videos on YouTube. If we were to let him, he would be watching TV all day as he snacks on his favourite treats.

What is top of your bucket list?

Resume travelling and manage to see as much of the world as possible.

What is one product you can’t live without?

I would say the three of us would agree on headphones, since we are always on the go and music, podcasts or audiobooks are a go-to.

Lets talk travel – If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

If we were to exclude travelling back home, I am sure we would all agree on Asia, as we are very fond of their culture and food scene.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

Stop caring about others’ opinions and just love yourself.

If you could spent Christmas anywhere in the world, where would you choose?

Cottage in the mountain with snow in upstate New York, or Nantucket.

What is your favourite Christmas tradition?

Playing board games and card games with the family.

What is your favourite Christmas film?

Well, this is one of those we cannot agree on. Cristina said The Grinch, Fred and Simona would say Home Alone.

Does your decor have a theme or does anything go?

We don’t really have a theme, but we are planning to get some funny decor bits for the Christmas tree, along the lines of tin of sardines etc.

What is your favourite Christmas song?

Last Christmas by Wham! has to take the cake here. We scream it at the top of our lungs, always.

Who are you spending Christmas day with?

This year, we shall be spending Christmas Day with our good friends Mari & Rob. Probably the evening back home with the cat mentioned above.

Do you dress up or dress down on Christmas day?

Dress down, always.

What do you love most about Christmas?

The food, and the company.

What is the best Christmas present you’ve ever received?

Everyone has a different one here, Simona was definitely very fond of receiving her KitchenAid, the girls both agree on some very nice jewellery from a few years ago.

That brings us to the end of this festive Q&A. I hope you enjoyed reading this festive Q&A with The Grumpy Olive. A massive thank you to the girls for taking part and sharing a bit about their Christmas. All that is left for me to say is I hope all my readers have an amazing Christmas, filled with love and laughter.

  1. I love a fun Q&A and this one was no exception! It is fun to learn about the passions in bloggers and their beginnings. Love seeing Home Alone on here, alongside as great a song as Last Christmas.
    Happy holidays!
