My Goals For 2021

Firstly, before I get onto my goals for 2021, I just wanted to express my disbelief at how quickly this year has gone. I started the year knowing that I would be made redundant in the middle of January and so I didn’t feel in the right head space to create goals for this year. In hindsight, that was probably a good thing.

2020 Has Been A Difficult Year For Us All

After the year we have all had, those goals would probably seem irrelevant and unachievable. Despite getting a new job quite quickly, I soon found myself furloughed and at home eating way too much chocolate. By the end of October, I had been made redundant again. I was lucky enough to get a job straight away. I appreciate that isn’t the case for everyone and that there are so many people who are struggling right now. My goals this year may differ from yours and that is ok. We are all at different points in our lives and our bigger goals are completely our own. So without further ado, here are the goals I’m working towards in 2021.

Drink More Water

This is something that I need to focus on this year. I have been plagued by UTI’s and kidney pain throughout 2020 and I know that I can take simple steps to change this. I’m aiming to treble my water intake and I’m pleased to say that so far, I am achieving it. I’ve kept it as a goal for 2021 because I know drinking more water will become more of a challenge when life finally gets back to some normality.

Complete Couch To 5k

I actually started this last year but only got half way through. This time, I would love to make it all the way through, not only to improve my fitness but also as an accomplishment. I’ll be able to prove that I can achieve whatever I set my mind to. I completed my charity walk during 2020, so I thought the couch to 5k would be the perfect next step.

Make Money Through Blogging

2020 has seen my blog grow in so many ways. It makes me so happy that I am able to make a small percentage of money from it. My goal this year is to make more money through my blog in 2021. It in no way means that I will become a full-time blogger, but just to have that feeling of success and fulfilment will be great. Plus I can put the money towards Christmas next year.

Read 50 Books

I have seen so many people set reading goals each year. Despite being an avid reader, this is something I have never done before. I am however interested to see how many books I can get through in a year. I think 50 is quite an achievable goal for me but we will see how I get on later in the year.

Improve My Blog SEO & DA

Lets face it, a huge part of having a successful blog comes down to SEO and DA numbers. When I first started blogging all those years ago, this wasn’t a thing and so I feel like I’m playing catch up. Over the last few months, I’ve been working on improving old posts. Whilst I’ve still got quite a few to do, I feel like I’m getting somewhere. I’d also love to do some more guest posting on other sites so please get in touch if this is something you offer.

Final Thoughts

I wanted to keep the goals a shared to a minimum because some of them are quite personal. I’d love to know what your goals for 2021 are, so leave me a comment below. Finally, I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish you a happy and healthy new year.

  4. These sound like fantastic, achievable goals! Our blogging goals are very similar 🙂 My other ones include getting back into drawing and doing more cooking (especially curries! Makes me feel so happy to have a fresh cooked meal). Good luck with your goals – I’m sure you’ll smash them! Kate x

  5. These are great goals! SEO and DA are both goals on my list as well. I just started digging into the eBook ‘SEO The Easy Way’ yesterday so that I can get started with that. You’ve got this! I can’t wait to hear updates as you start to accomplish everything that you’ve set out to do.

  6. Best of luck with all your goals, Kelly! I love that you have a mix of personal and writing related goals here. Expanding my writing is definitely one of my goals for the next year, as well as mastering an area of math I am stuck in . . . 🙂

  7. Happy new year Kelly! I love reading about other people’s goals. 50 books sounds pretty challenging, that’s awesome! I’ve never seen a reading goal but love nonfiction books. I also have goals to improve my SEO and DA, as well as Pinterest. Best of luck on all your goals!

  12. 2020 was a rough year.

I’ve been trying to drink more water too and I find that the app/game “Plant Nanny” has been helping me.

I switched over to WP from Blogger last May and I probably should take a look at my old posts but it’s 9 years worth of posts and I’m intimidated. Maybe I’ll aim for two posts a week.

  14. Good luck with couch to 5k! I did this last year, it’s definitely achievable (did my 5k on 31st Dec!) but I found running consistently was way more important than how many km I did each time

  15. I’m rooting for you to reach all these goals! I love the idea of 50 books but i know I can’t make it. I usually have 1 book per month because I am always caught up with so many things. With that being said another goal of mine is to wake up earlier. Happy New year! All the best 🥂

  16. Great goals – I really hope you can achieve them all! I’m also trying to do the couch to 5k because I keep starting, leaving it three weeks between runs and starting again, so definitely trying to get into a better habit there! Good luck with them all!
