I feel like this year has flown by. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve had so much going on in this pregnancy or if life is just flying by in general. But I can’t believe I am sat writing a Halloween post.

Over the years that I have been blogging, I’ve written a few Halloween and Autumn inspired posts which I will leave linked at the end of this post. Personally for me, I have never been hugely into Halloween. I don’t know if that is just a British thing though, because up until recently, Halloween wasn’t really a big deal here. Having said that, now that I have a little one on the way, I can’t wait to be able to do all of the Halloween things with her.
Obviously I have a little while until I can do anything with baby girl but it doesn’t mean I can’t do this post which is inspired by those thoughts. So without further ado, here is some budget-friendly Halloween activities to do with the kids…
Activities to do at home
Host a scavenger hunt. It is such a popular thing to do around Easter, so why not create a Halloween themed one. Places like Poundland & Home Bargains have some great props and treats that you could use for under £5.
Get creative with some Halloween baking. There are so many great recipes online that you simply won’t know which to choose.
Play some Halloween games. There are so many ideas on Pinterest, which things such as apple bobbing, Halloween inspired heads up and pin the spider on the web. They can provide hours of fun and laughter, especially when the weather isn’t the best. The great thing is there is something suitable for all ages, which is great if you have more than one child.

Sticking with the bad weather scenario, what better activity to do than have a film night. Grab yourself some spooky treats, get the cosy blankets out and put that film on. This is something I have done every year and yes, I can confirm my film choice is always Hocus Pocus.
Decorating the house can be such a fun activity to do and really gets you in the Halloween spirit. Over the years, I’ve picked up so many Halloween inspired decorations and I’m sure you have too. You could even make it a tradition that the kids pick out one new decoration from the shops each year.
The last thing I wanted to mention for at home activities is to get creative. This could be doing so many things. A few ideas are face painting, making your own Halloween decorations or even making your own costume. There are so many ways you could be creative.
Activities to do out & about
With Halloween becoming more popular in the UK, there are definitely a lot more activities and events popping up. More than there ever was when I was growing up. With that in mind, it’s always worth having a look for local events to see what is happening. These can often be a great activity that gets you out the house for very little money.

Visit the circus. There is quite often a circus popping up here and there so definitely have a look to see if there is one local to you. It’s a great way of getting lost in the magic for an hour and is something that kids will remember.
Ok, so the last one I want to mention is very Instagram-worthy but it can also be fun and that is pumpkin picking. This is something I’m hoping I can do next year. It’s a great way of getting out in the fresh air and finding that perfect pumpkin.
If pumpkins aren’t your thing, you could try apple picking instead if you have any local orchards near you that do this. There is nothing better than enjoying eating your own picked fruit.
Final thoughts
I hope you found these ideas useful. I think the key thing to remember is that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have fun. I hope I’ve proved that with these budget-friendly Halloween activities to do with the kids. As mentioned above, I will link some of the Halloween/ Autumn inspired posts I’ve written over the years below, so make sure you check them out.

I think if we can do some great things without spending too much money that is a great idea. This time of year is an expensive one, here in the U.S. we have Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas to prepare for so it all adds up. Your tips and ideas are great!
